The crisis of maternal overdose, substance use and substance use disorders knows no border. MOMs+ is a program that was born in Colorado, and has spread to Louisiana and Wyoming. The need to expand this perinatal system of addiction care to additional states, health systems and nationally is an urgent matter. The maternal mortality rate in the United States represents a public health emergency. Substance use disorders can be treated with compassion, evidence based care, good regulation and public policy. MOMs+ is eager to be part of the solution.
